Nohur Lake And the Most Honest Swimming Review Ever Given
Nohur Lake is one of the most photographed spots in Gabala, and when you see it in person you will understand why. The water is extraordinarily clear, the surrounding landscape is green and calm, and the overall atmosphere is the kind of peaceful that city people specifically travel to find.
You can rent paddleboats and lake bicycles directly on the shore, a relaxed way to spend an hour or two on the water.
We should tell you about one particular visitor to Nohur Lake. A tourist from Slovakia rented a lake bicycle, managed to lose his balance somewhere on the water, and went in completely, thoroughly, dramatically into the lake.
Several people rushed to help. The situation was resolved quickly. He emerged wet from head to toe, looked around at the gathered crowd, and announced with complete sincerity: "This is the most beautiful and clean lake I have ever swum in my life."

Seven Beauties Waterfall
The Seven Beauties Waterfall Yeddi Gözəl is one of Gabala's most rewarding natural attractions and one that requires a little more effort than the others, which is exactly why it feels so satisfying when you get there. Unfortunately, due to the global warming and wrong usage of water resources, waterfall’s water is going to drought and this may surprise you.
The waterfall is surrounded by dense forest and reached via a walking trail through genuine mountain landscape. The name refers to the seven cascading tiers of water that fall through the rocks each one distinct, each one worth pausing at.
Wear proper shoes the path is uneven and can be slippery near the water. And do not hike this trail alone. The forests around Gabala are dense and extensive, the mountain terrain is complex, and losing your bearings is easier than it sounds. Go with a guide or at minimum with other people.
Laza Village: The Mountain Village Above Everything
For travelers who want to go beyond the resort infrastructure and find something genuinely ancient, Laza Village is the answer.
Located high in the mountains above Gabala, Laza is an old settlement that sits at an altitude most visitors to the town never reach. The views from up there are of a different order entirely you are looking down at peaks that felt impressive from below.
The road to Laza requires a 4x4 vehicle. Gabala Khanlar is not simply a restaurant it is a large forested property where the dining experience and the natural environment are completely inseparable. The food is fresh, the ingredients are local, and the quality is consistently high.
But the reason people remember Khanlar is not the food alone. Walk through the property. The restaurant covers a wide area of mountain forest, and as you walk between the dining areas you will hear birds in the trees above you and if you are patient and quiet, you will see squirrels moving through the branches. It is the kind of place that makes you feel like the forest agreed to let you eat inside it.

Other Recommended Restaurants
Orman and Su Səsi are both solid choices for traditional Azerbaijani food in a natural setting. Su Səsi which means sound of water lives up to its name with a location near running water that adds a particular atmosphere to a meal.
Where to Stay in Gabala
Gabala has accommodation for every budget, which is one of the things that makes it accessible to such a wide range of travelers.
Budget and mid-range: Duyma Hotel is a reliable choice for travelers watching their spending. There is also a growing number of A-frame and Scandinavian-style wooden houses available for rent charming, well-equipped, and enormously popular with families and couples. These book up quickly in peak season.
Luxury: Gabala Riverside, Tufandagh Hotel, and Gabala Garden are the premium options. Tufandagh Hotel, sitting at the top of the mountain resort, is in a category of its own for winter visitors you ski in the morning and sleep surrounded by mountain peaks at night.
Important: Gabala is extremely popular with Arabic tourists, who come in large groups for extended stays sometimes weeks at a time. During peak summer months and ski season, the town can be fully booked. Reserve your accommodation and any transfers well in advance. Arriving without a booking in high season is a gamble you are likely to lose.
Practical Tips Before You Go
Bring cash. Along the roads into Gabala and throughout the mountain areas, local villagers sell honey, saffron, homemade jams, dried fruits, and other regional products directly from roadside stalls. These vendors do not accept cards. The prices are very low and the quality is exceptional but only if you have cash in your pocket.
