Full Azerbaijan Private Tour – See the Entire Country with One Trusted Partner
Azerbaijan is a country that rewards travelers who go beyond the capital. From the ancient Silk Road cities of the northwest to the subtropical forests of the south, from the mud volcanoes of the Absheron Peninsula to the 2,200-meter mountain villages of the Greater Caucasus — the country contains more geographical and cultural diversity than most visitors expect from a destination this size. A Luxline full country tour covers it all, in a private vehicle, at your pace, with a professional driver who has traveled every road in this itinerary hundreds of times.
A Suggested 7-Day Itinerary
Day one and two in Baku — the Old City, Flame Towers, Gobustan National Park, and the mud volcanoes. Day three, the drive north to Guba with a stop at the Candy Cane Mountains and an afternoon in Red Village. Day four, the mountain road to Khinalig — one of the oldest villages on Earth — with an overnight in the highlands. Day five, the drive west to Sheki via Shamakhi and Topchu Forest, with an afternoon at the Khan's Palace and the ancient caravanserai. Day six, Sheki to Gabala — cable car, Nohur Lake, and dinner in a forest restaurant. Day seven, the southern highway to Lankaran — tea plantations, Hirkan National Park, and fresh Caspian fish before the return to Baku.
Fully Customizable
The above is a framework, not a fixed contract. Luxline builds full country itineraries around your specific interests, travel pace, and available time. More days in the mountains? We add them. More time in Baku? We adjust. Interested in wine country, Soviet architecture, or UNESCO heritage sites specifically? We build the route around what matters to you. Itinerary
Baku City Center
~300 min
On Day 1, your Luxline driver picks you up from your Baku hotel and takes you on the 5 hour drive west to Ganja Azerbaijan's ancient cultural capital, home to the mausoleum of Nizami Ganjavi, one of the greatest poets of the medieval Islamic world, and to streets that carry the architectural layers of Arab, Persian, Russian, and Soviet rule in a single city walk.
大麻
~30 min
Azerbaijan's second-largest city has been called Ganja meaning Treasure since ancient times. And the name fits. Ganja carries a history of empires, poets, conquerors, and resilience that most international visitors never discover because they stay in Baku and never make it west. This private 2-day tour changes that.
JAVAD KHAN PEDESTRIAN STREET
~45 min
The heart of Ganja's city life a beautifully restored pedestrian street lined with traditional architecture, the Ganja State philharmonic building, cafes, and the particular energy of an Azerbaijani city that was built for its own residents rather than for international tourism. The Roman-style statues of three women with trumpets at one end of the street have become one of the city's most photographed landmarks.
NIZAMI GANJAVI MAUSOLEUM
~30 min
The towering 20-meter cylindrical marble mausoleum of Azerbaijan's greatest poet stands at the city entrance a massive structure surrounded by a memorial park. Nizami Ganjavi wrote the Khamsa (Five Poems), one of the most celebrated works of classical Persian and Azerbaijani literature. Ganja is inseparable from his name.
BOTTLE HOUSE
~20 min
One of Ganja's most unusual attractions a house decorated entirely with glass bottles embedded in its exterior walls. Built by Ibrahim Jafarov over 30 years using more than 48,000 bottles, it is a monument to personal obsession and creative termination that attracts visitors precisely because it fits no category.
KHAN BAGHI PARK
~30 min
A lush city park originally created as a garden during the Ganja Khanate period and maintained through every subsequent era. A genuine city park built for residents the best place in Ganja to sit, watch the city move around you, and rest before dinner.
ALEXANDER NEVSKY CHURCH
~20 min
Built in 1887 during the Russian imperial period, this Russian Orthodox church features a beautiful facade with ornate blue doors and distinctive red brickwork that make it one of the most visually striking buildings in the city. The church was closed during the Soviet period and used for secular purposes before being reopened as a place of worship in 1946.
Ganja Drop off Point (hotel)
~600 min
Return to hotel and overnight in Ganja.
Goygol City
~60 min
Checkout and hotel departure. Begin drive toward Goygol. The route from Ganja into the Lesser Caucasus passes through small villages with a distinctive architectural character.
Helenendorf settlement
~30 min
The former Helenendorf settlement, now the town of Goygol, was established by German colonists in 1819. At its peak, hundreds of German families lived here farming, producing wine, and building a community that preserved its identity for over a century before Soviet deportations in 1941 ended the German presence. The Lutheran church ruins and remaining German-style architecture are a remarkable reminder of this unexpected chapter in Azerbaijani history.
Goygol Lake
~60 min
Visiting Azerbaijan's most beautiful lake. The water color is the first thing that stops visitors a deep blue-green that shifts with the light and with the season, clean enough that the lake bottom is visible at depths of 8 to 10 meters. Wildlife in the surrounding Goygol National Park includes Caucasian deer, wild cats, rabbits, squirrels, black vultures, and the Caspian snowcock 400 species of trees, plants, and medicinal herbs cover the park's 12,755 hectares.
Lake Maralgol
~60 min
A smaller, quieter lake deeper in the national park, accessible by park minibus from Goygol (1 AZN per trip, runs every 15-30 minutes). Lake Maralgol has short walking trails along the shore and a hilltop café.
Baku Drop off Point
~300 min
Begin return drive to Baku. Drop off to the hotel.
